Former Kakamega Senator Bonnie Khalwale has termed the GSU officer killed in DusitD2 terror attack as a 'hero' who will be remembered for many days to come.
Constable Japhet Nuru died while rescuing Kenyans from the DusitD2 Complex where Khalwale's daughter happened to be one of those under siege.
On a tweet, he said: "My family en I shall always remember u. Ua family remains in our thoughts en prayers. Meanwhile we request the Almighty that u may RIP."
In an obituary on one of the local dailies, the family of the GSU officer has asked family and friends to help them give him a descent send-off, further raising eyebrows over the government's commitment.
“Meetings for funeral arrangements will take place today 22/1/2019 at Kindergarten hall and Wednesday 23/1/2019 at A.C.K hall, All Saints Cathedral starting from 5pm,” an obituary read.
Khalwale's daughter was rescued at 3am the following day after officers from Recce Squad helped tame four terrorists who had taken Kenyans hostage.
