A middle-aged man from Kiu village was on Wednesday charged at Kangundo law courts for defiling a form three student.
The accused, Mutunga Ngei appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Eddah Ogade. He denied the charges levelled against him.
According to the prosecution, the accused committed the heinous act on the Sunday of June 15, 2019, in Kathiani sub-county.
The girl had gone to visit her grandmother at Kamwanyani village on the fateful day when the man waylaid her and dragged her into a corner where he defiled her.
The girl was taken to Kangundo Level Four Hospital where she was examined.
The suspect is said to have gone into hiding after committing the offence where he was arrested on Tuesday and detained at Kakuyuni Police Station.
The case had been reported at Kathiani Police Station and later referred to Kakuyuni.
The court ordered the accused to pay a bond of Sh200,000 with a surety of the same amount.
The accused will appear again in court on July 3, 2019, for a mention of the case.
