According to Lilian Achieng', the abductor(s) are demanding for Sh15 million ransom, failure to which they have threatened to kill her son.

The woman who is a house help and unable to raise the funds told the Thursday Nation that the day on which she was to send the money has passed, making her worried.

"The caller said the money was to be paid on Tuesday or they harm the child. I don’t know who the person is. He never told me where he was or whether my son was fine or not,” she said.

However, Achieng's bosses Mr Ken Kowuo and his wife Caroline Sang' now say that the incident might have resulted from a mixup and their daughter might have been the target.

They said that they had information that their daughter was at risk of being abducted and are now pleading with the kidnappers to let the boy loose.

"Some people may think we have a lot of money which is not the case, we plead with the abductors to set Ochieng’ (the boy) free,” Ms Sang told the paper.

Ms Achieng' said that the incident happened at around 2 pm on the fateful days after he sent the boy to go buy food at the market.
