There was drama at Maseno market on Monday as a woman mercilessly attacked a matatu tout for allegedly assaulting her child.
Speaking to a Hivisasa writer, the woman claimed that the tout was rogue, as he almost threw out her son before the matatu could stop.
''Most touts are not disciplined, he (the tout) almost killed my son when we reached our destination (Maseno) from Busia. In his hurry to make my son get off the matatu, he tried to push him before the vehicle stopped.I screamed from the back of the matatu and he stopped.
"To teach him a lesson, I quarreled and slapped him severally when I got off the matatu, and helped my boy get off the vehicle,"she stated.
The other passengers supported her action, adding that they were about to help her discipline the tout, were it not for the driver who intervened and pleaded for mercy on behalf of the tout.
The driver explained that his assistant was only trying to observe time, since they were late, and other passengers in the matatu had to arrive at work on time.
Maseno boda boda operators seconded the action of the woman as they claimed justice had to be upheld in her case.
The passengers later calmed down and boarded the matatu with some of them claiming that they won't pay their fare.
The embarrassed tout kept calm as the matatu took off and asked for forgiveness from the lady.
