At least six Members of County Assembly in Kisumu have recorded a statement at the Kisumu central police station after chief sergeant-at-arm George Amayo fired gunshots in the air, to scare away the rowdy Ward Reps during yesterday's session.
Trouble began when Amayo called police officers at the assembly to end the alleged commotion inside the chambers caused by MCAs who were having a loud protest.
Mr. Amayo’s action angered the MCAs who turned rowdy and roughed him up, a situation that made him pull out his gun, and shoot in the air to scare them away.
Onyango Oloo, the Kisumu County Majority Leader expressed his anger claiming it was wrong for the sergeant-at-arms to scare people with his gun when he’s supposed to give protection.
“I want to say things that have happened today in this county assembly are not good at all. We have been shocked that the sergeant-at-arm shoots at people where he almost killed Kondele MCA Joachim Swagga,” Onyango claimed.
Kondele MCA Joachim Swagga who led the six others to write a statement at the police station expressed his anger stating that Amayo should be charged for attempted murder.
“We are going to sue Amayo for an attempted murder and he should appear in court by tomorrow if late,” Hon. Swagga said.
