In a tweet on Saturday, Passaris complained that the money is too little, especially compared to what their counterparts in the National Assembly are receiving.

According to the vocal parliamentarian, each woman rep receives Sh6 million per constituency, which she says is nothing compared to the Sh100 million given to MPs.

She further noted that she and her 46 counterparts across the country are doing their best in ensuring that they make the most out of the limited funds allocated to them.

According to the ODM party member, the same headache applies to matters bursary funds, where they only have one million per constituency compared to the other MPs' Sh25 million.

Passaris has now called for more empowerment for women leaders, which she says will, in turn, empower the nation.

"Six million per constituency for CWR annually compared to one hundred million per constituency for MPs is why I liken the fund to petty cash. One million per constituency in bursary against twenty-five million for an MP. We do our best. #EmpowerWomenLeaders #EmpowerTheNation," she tweeted on Saturday.

She was responding to a Twitter user who had protested her initial remarks referring to their allocation as petty cash.
