With political bigwigs in Migori readying themselves for a ferocious political contest in the upcoming by-election to fill the vacant senatorial seat left following the death of Senator Ben Oluoch Okello, the entry of the slain senator's son into the race gives the battle a fresh dimension.
Already, former Cabinet Ministers; Dalmas Otieno and Ochillo Ayacko are seen by many as the leading contenders for the position should they make a decision to try their luck.
Also in the field is the youthful David Osiany who is seen by many residents as the future of Migori politics with many admiring him for his brilliance and eloquence.
Speaking during the burial of his father on Monday, Willis Oluoch, the late Senator's first born son asked the locals to support his bid to take over the seat in the upcoming by-election.
So what next? Will ODM under the leadership of Raila Odinga make the same decision that was committed three years ago during the Homa Bay County senatorial race where the party allegedly handpicked Moses Kajwang; Otieno Kajwang's brother, as its candidate?
Will the Odinga-led party get it right this time round? Well, this will be a major headache for the former Prime Minister since most of the politicians expected to vie for the seat are close allies of the opposition chief.
