Unlike other politicians who believe in the absorption politics where one adopts their rivals to kill competition, Deputy President William Ruto has not been doing the same with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
This comes at a time when the Senator is considered a threat to both his Rift Valley kingpin slot and his 2022 presidential bid.
However, the DP has not been seen publicly attempting to woo Moi and has instead been using his allies to bash and attack him.
Similarly, Ruto has been getting the same from the senator's side, leading to a bitter exchange at times between their allies.
This could mean that the DP doesn't really consider the son to former President Gideon Moi a threat to his future plans, though the latter seems determined to spoil his plans.
Considering that he enjoys the backing of most leaders from the region, most of whom are in office on the ruling Jubilee Party, the DP doesn't see the need to have Moi's support.
The other reason could be his determination to prove himself and show the nation that he doesn't need the help of the political elite to make it to the top.
The self-throned hustler considers himself the next in line after the political groupings leave power courtesy of President Uhuru Kenyatta's looming retirement.
However, Ruto and team might also be having the reconciliation in mind but are being discouraged by the lawmaker's political moves.
Gideon has been meeting forces considered anti-Ruto, the latest one being his meeting with opposition chief and Ruto's possible challenger in the 2022 presidential battle Raila Odinga.
The senator seems too far ahead to be taken back and convinced into joining the DP's camp.
