People believe that someone's name says a lot about him/herself, the reason why a parent has to think well about the name to give a child.
Kenyan communities name children according to time, ancestors, season, height, behaviors and even places and Kambas are no exception.
For Machakos Woman Representative Joyce Kamene, her naming might be based on relatives.
Her name 'Kamene' means hated. Also, the opposite of 'Mwende' which means loved.
In her case, it could be that she was named after a loved relative. Nobody knows, but the name doesn't befit her.
Kamene's aggressiveness and perseverance have earned her a place in Kenyan politics and there's a need for her to change the name.
Women leaders who accompanied her to the International Women's Day said she has executed her duties diligently and her name should be changed to Mwende.
This is because she has earned love and respect from several people.
"Kamene is an iron lady who has gone through a lot and came out triumphant, she is an example of strong women leaders. We love her and she should change her name because we don't hate her," said Machakos County's Maendeleo Ya Wanawake chairlady Francisca Mutinda.
