Busia Woman Rep Florence Mutua poked holes into the Punguza Mizigo Initiative and mocked its author Dr Ekuru Aukot.
Speaking on Sunday in Siaya, the outspoken legislator contended that Dr Aukot's initiative was keen on reducing the number of women in political leadership.
"This guy called Aukot, I even don't know his name, he needs to be told that women are not the burden. Women are not a burden, the burden on Kenya is corruption and he has not even spelled out in his document how he is going to deal with the menace of corruption."
(Huyu anaitwa Aukot sijui anaitwa nani he needs to be told that women are not the mzigo. Wamama sio muzigo, muzigo ile iko Kenya ni corruption na hiyo document yake hata hajatuambia hata vile atadeal na corruption)," the Musia woman rep said.
She called on Kenya to wait for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report which is being compiled by a select committee.
Her words come in the context of a raging national debate on the BBI and Punguza Mizigo initiatives.
Veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga, BBI most vocal proponent, has called on Kenyans to ignore the Thirdway Aliance leader's initiative, saying that Kenyans were not involved in the drawing up of the Punguza Mizigo draft.
