A close political ally of Deputy President William Ruto has expressed fear that the huge opposition the DP is facing may actually deny the former Eldoret North MP a chance to lead Kenya.
Soy MP Caleb Kositany on Saturday said the opposition strongly feels that Ruto has to return to the drawing board and cleverly calculate his moves as he continues to forge alliances throughout the country.
Kositany, however, expressed optimism that Ruto will triumph against all manner of rejection and opposition to clinch the presidency in 2022.
"We don't to expect anything less of big hurdles because there are people who can not allow the son of a peasant to rise to the presidency," the MP said as he spoke to a leading local leading daily.
One of Ruto's main challenges is in his Rift Valley backyard where more pressure is coming from speculation that Baringo Senator Gideon Moi plans to run for the presidency in 2022.
Gideon's decision to vie for the presidency will directly affect Ruto because the DP will out-rightly lose a sizable number of votes in the vote-rich region.
It also emerged two months ago that a relative to a senior Jubilee politician is allegedly funding activities at a parallel campaign secretariat in Nairobi which has been established to ostensibly frustrate Ruto's State House bid.
