Politics is a dirty game, former Uganda President the late Apollo Milton Obote once said. And nothing more than that can describe Kenyan politicians. The men and women who are expected to be at the forefront championing the interests of the Kenyan people have been the very ones betraying the electorate- changing positions every other day.
So who are some of these Kenyans?
1. Raila Odinga
The former prime minister in the run-up to the 2013 and 2017 general elections swore never to work with "thieves" (Jubilee). He called President Uhuru Kenyatta names in rallies while charming his supporters and even convinced them to boycott the October 26th 2017 repeat poll. But on March 9th, he buried his differences with Uhuru and decided to work with the commander in chief.
2. Kalonzo Musyoka
He has on many occasions been described as 'watermelon' because of his 'cowardly' political moves. During campaigns for the August 8th polls, he said Wiper would never support Jubilee in any way because the ideology of his party is that the party can never work with untrustworthy people. However, last week he endorsed Uhuru's presidency, supported the handshake between Uhuru and Raila and promised to support Jubilee's Big Four agenda.
3. Hassan Joho
The Mombasa governor is a close ally of Raila. When NASA unveiled its presidential candidate at Uhuru Park last year he publicly said that his biggest enemy in Kenya was Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto. The county chief has approved the Raila-Uhuru handshake and is now willing to accommodate the commander in chief in Mombasa, something that was unlikely before.
4. Moses Wetangula
He has been a NASA co-principal criticizing the Jubilee administration day-in-day-out. But his recent fallout with Raila has exposed his true colours. He now supports Ruto's 2022 State House bid against the wishes of NASA which Ford Kenya is a member.
