Police in Bomet are holding a 30-year-old man accused of hacking his wife to death following a domestic conflict.
Gilbert Kipngetich Kirui reportedly used a panga to slash his wife who is aged 20, in Konoin constituency.
The incident was confirmed by Konoin sub-county Police Commander Lusala Shikondi who said that the woman succumbed to head and leg injuries.
He said that the woman was found dead in a pool of blood and the neighbours were alerted by her screams, while the husband fled the scene.
"The suspect had a domestic dispute with his 20-year-old wife Caroline Kirui and in the process, inflicted serious head and leg injuries using a panga," the police boss said on Saturday.
The suspect was later arrested by the police and is being held at the Mogogosiek Police Station, with the police boss saying that he will be arraigned to face murder charges, Monday.
The deceased lost her life while being rushed to the Litein African Inland Church (AIC) church, he added.
“She was rushed to Litein AIC Hospital where she was pronounced on arrival by doctors,” added Shikondi.
The officer raised alarm over the increasing cases of love-related murders in the region. The body of the deceased is being preserved at the hospital's mortuary pending an autopsy.
