Nakuru Human Rights Network (NAHURINET) has written to the Director of Public Prosecution and Director of Criminal Investigations calling for thorough investigations into the death of Peter Kariuki at Teachers Police Post on September 16 2018.
In a letter dated September 22, 2018, NAHURINET Director David Kuria wants DPP Nordin Hajji and DCI to ensure the matter is addressed to ensure justice for the family.
The letter that is also carbon copied to the Independent Medical Legal Unit and Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA), demands that Teachers Police Post be investigated to ascertain the cause of Kariuki.
Kariuki was arrested by officers from the post before his wife was told that he died while at the Central police station.
Kuria said police claimed the deceased committed suicide before his fellow inmates.
