Soy Member of Parliament Caleb Kositany has come to the defence of Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich who has been under fire following his decision to effect a 16 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) to petroleum products.
The Jubilee MP says CS Rotich should not be victimized for making a decision on behalf of the government.
Speaking at Ziwa on Wednesday, Kositany said the CS acted within the law as parliament had passed a bill giving the green light for the introduction of the VAT.
"Rotich is a public servant and he makes decisions approved as per the law on behalf of the government so it is wrong to blame him on this," said the MP.
"Some politicians are just using this issue for political mileage," he added.
The first time MP, however, expressed optimism that President Uhuru Kenyatta will handle the matter once he returns back into the country from China.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have heard the cry of wananchi and when he gets back into the country we know he will have a solution that will satisfy all Kenyans," said Kositany
After the CS insisted that the VAT on fuel will be implemented, a section of legislators has been hitting at him with some threatening for an impeachment motion.
