Equity CEO James Mwangi is considered one of the wealthiest Kenyans in the nation. He is a businessman and banker. Sources indicate that Mwangi’s estimated net worth is US$170 million. He has shares Equity Group Holdings Limited and British American Insurance Company Limited (Britam). Mwangi was born in Kangema in Central Kenya in 1962.
The banker’s father was killed during the Mau Mau conflict. He was raised by his single mother Grace Mwangi alongside his six siblings. He went to Nyagatugu Primary School in Kangema Village before he later joined Ichagaki Secondary School after he landed a government scholarship.
