Telecommunication giant in Kenya, Safaricom is creating long-lasting transformational, economic, and social investments to more than 3.5 million individuals across the country through the Safaricom Foundation.
The foundation is improving the lives of Kenyan citizens in different ways.
Here are four ways through which the Safaricom Foundation is positively impacting Kenyan lives:
1. Education
Through the provision of grants, the Safaricom Foundation is enhancing education access to all students including disabled ones and kids from marginalised communities.
Education enhancement is achieved in different ways. For example digital audiobooks production for African Braile Centre, construction of classrooms in Wajir County (Dashek PrimarySchool), and Science laboratory construction in Machakos County (Mbaani Secondary School) among others.
2. Access to clean water
Safaricom Foundation has been able to supply clean water to over 300,000 individuals spread in areas suffering from water scarcity.
For example, Kitise and Mukameni water projects (Makueni County), Mukuru Kwa Njenga water kiosks (Nairobi County), and Abass Farm Community water project (Wajir County) among others.
3. Health
The Foundation has invested a lot of money towards improving Kenya's health system. As a result, more than 980,000 Kenyan lives have positively been impacted.
Notable success has been achieved in improving maternal health and reducing the mortality rate.
4. Created business opportunities
Through the provision of business skills, Safaricom Foundation has successfully empowered over 770,000 individuals economically.
Through the Wezesha program, small scale and macro enterprises have been established, thereby. creating jobs.
Furthermore, the program is enhancing access to financial literacy and entrepreneurship education for the youth.
