This, the lawyer says, is following Raila's recent meeting with the Dubai ruler where President Uhuru Kenyatta was also present.

Raila has been linked to the scam especially after an audio of a person that sounded like Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula mentioned his name alongside that of the president in a conversation with a person said to be a representative of the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

"I think it's malicious to link BABA to the Gold SCAM...he recently met the Dubai ruler as a co-equal," reads a tweet by Ahmednassir.

In the tweet, Ahmednasir had included the Standard newspaper cover page that reads "Uhuru, Raila meeting with Dubai Sheikh."

According to the Standard, the said meeting took place on April 27, 2019 when the two leaders (Raila and Uhuru) were returning from a summit in China.

The Standard further reports that during the meeting, the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, raised concerns about the hurdles he is facing to airlift his golds from Kenya.
