Ruto has been very vocal about the party's recent expulsion of Malindi lawmaker Aisha Jumwa, and has repeatedly criticized the Orange party for the move.

But in a rejoinder Saturday, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said that the expulsion is a closed chapter and Ruto's intervention is not going to change anything.

Sifuna accused the DP of misleading Jumwa who is now paying the price of her disloyalty after listening to him.

"I want to tell DP Ruto that you are like the serpent which tricked Eve in the Garden of Eden to eat the forbidden fruit. Aisha did the same and we have now expelled her from the party,” Sifuna was quoted by the Nation.

The former Nairobi senatorial hopeful was speaking in the company of other ODM members and leaders during a fundraiser at St Teresa School in Mlango Kubwa, Mathare.

Jumwa has since picked Elgeyo Marakwet and Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen as her lawyer, in her bid to challenge the party's decision to expel her.

Among the reasons the party has fronted for the decision is Jumwa's closeness to the DP and her endorsements of his 2022 presidential bid.
