Matiang'i while speaking in Kisii town on Friday asked members of the public to report PSV operators who have doubled fares to police for necessary action to be taken.

"We can't allow poor residents to be exploited by PSV operators. I am appealing to the public to report matatu operating who are charging abnormal fares," he said.

According to Matiang'i, the implementation of the new road traffic rules famously known as 'Michuki rules' doesn't mean PSVs to double fares.

"New road rules don't guarantee PSV operators to hike fares. Safety on roads is mandatory for everyone. Critics should consider something constructive to do because I will never change my mind to condone impunity in the transport sector," noted Matiang'i.

Matiang'i warned motorists against driving under the influence of alcohol.

"Police manning roadblocks should not allow drunk drivers to proceed with their journey since we don't want road carnages," said the Cs.

He called on Boda boda riders to be cautious during the festive seasons to curb unnecessary accidents.
