One social media user has come out to defend Daudi Nzomo, who was caught on camera beating up his wife, Winifred Mwende, a mother of three.
The viral video got the attention of Kenyans, including the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Noordin Haji, who ordered for Nzomo's arrest.
However, one Maxwell Kamau Macharia, a Facebook user, is not in agreement with the DPP.
He is urging the DPP to have the suspect released.
His argument is that it Nzomo had a "right to defend his marriage", even though he went beyond the measures, and beat up his wife.
"Release Nzomo. When a lady mutilates a husband she becomes a hero ?When a man discipline her wife he becomes a wanted criminal ?Why why ?
"Hebrews 13:4: Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral." read his post in part on different social media.
Nzomo was arrested at Nguu Masambu ward in Nzaui sub-county, Makueni County on Thursday morning.
Macharia's reasoning has attracted mixed reactions from Kenyans. Here are some of them:
