Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has asked local politicians to stop playing dirty politics about churches.
According to Maangi, politicians should respect the church and offer donations to help in improving infrastructure.
Maangi while speaking on Monday evening when he condoled with the family and friends of the late Fr. Cosmas Ondari, brother to Former Gubernatorial aspirant Hon. Boniface Omboto, who was allegedly shot by suspected Cameroon soldiers on November 21, 2018, at Mfame Parish said the church should not be taken for granted.
"Church matters should not be politicized. I am calling on local politicians to offer donations in form of funds to various churches across the county to improve infrastructures," he said.
Maangi faulted a section of politicians who have been criticizing him for accompanying Deputy President William Ruto to fund drives saying they are selfish individuals who never wants to offer a helping hand.
"I won't stop joining other leaders in offering donations to build our churches. Those who are not happy with me accompanying Ruto to fund drives should keep off," said Maangi.
He confirmed that the county government of Kisii will continue involving the church in daily activities.
