Ndeti says cases of school fires are getting out of hand and needs to be stopped.

Addressing the press at Tala in Matungulu, Machakos County on Monday, Ndeti said the fires being reported in schools pose threats to students' safety.

Ndeti said the government is taking too long to look into the possible causes of fire in schools.

“The whole thing is getting out of hand and I appeal to the relevant agencies to move with speed and put a stop to the infernos,” Ndeti said.

Ndeti also asked the government to establish real causes why students are torching their schools.

“There is something these students are protesting against and the government must tell us,” she added.

Ndeti pleaded with students to stop destroying their schools and instead speak out their issues.

She asked Education Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Amina Mohamed to visit schools and have a one on one talk with the students.

“I don’t think is all about examinations, there could be something else,” Ndeti said.

Incidents of schools being torched by students continue to be reported across the country.

Several schools have been closed indefinitely after incidents of fire were reported.

Equally, hundreds of students have been arrested, interrogated and charged in court.

Last week, Education CS warned indiscipline students behind the school fires that they will not be tolerated.

She said records of rogue students will be kept and reflect on their Certificates of Good Conduct.
