Former mayor Samuel Nyangeso opined that Matiang'i serves at a powerful position in government and therefore, he should help the community.

"Matiang'i should prioritize helping the Abagusii community by ensuring young people get jobs due to his powerful position in government. Let Matiang'i follow the footsteps of former presidential aspirant Simon Nyachae who during his time helped the community," said Nyangeso.

He noted that as much as the community will be proud of Matiang'i, should he fail to help the community in matters jobs and development, he will not have any legacy.

"We pray that God guides Matiang'i to remember helping the community since after all once he retires he will have to take credit of the good things he did to our community," he noted.

Another leader James Nyamoko challenged the CS to put the interests of the Gusii community at heart.

"By the time Matiang'i returns home we will have to know how many children from the community he helped to get jobs. I urge him as he served Kenyans to remember his community," stated Nyamoko.

The leaders were speaking on Saturday at Rianyakangi SDA church in Kiabonyoru ward, Nyamira County.
