Mama Dorcas, the mother-in-law to late Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso on Saturday eulogised the latter as a loving woman.
Addressing mourners at Fort Ternan in Kisumu county where Laboso was laid to rest, Mama Dorcas said the family had come to terms with what had happened.
She said God had seen it fit to give her rest and allow somebody else to take over as Bomet county boss to serve the people.
"We are happy for all that has happened. We don't have pain. We don't have sorrow. We know that Joyce is with God. The work she did is enough, She is with God, she is living with God. (Tumefurahi kwa yote imetendeka. Hatuna uchungu. Hatuna huzuni. Tunajua Joyce ako na Mungu. Kazi yake amefanya imetosha. Ako kwa Mungu anaishi na Mungu)," she said.
Dorcas recounted the hospitality they experienced when they went to Bomet to pay dowry for Laboso.
She described the pioneering female governor as a loving woman, relating how she assured her son when he told her that his wife had cancer.
Dr Laboso, whom Dorcas described as a daughter, lost her battle with cancer at a Nairobi hospital after a long run with treatment.
All through the late governor's cancer ordeal, Dorcas said they sought refuge in prayer.
