Moi University has closed the college of Health Sciences, School of Medicine and Dentistry following recent chaos among the students at the institution.
According to a memo posted on Moi University School of Medicine’s Twitter handle, the chaos led to misconduct and harassment of the staff.
“Following the student’s unrest at the College of Health Sciences, Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, leading to gross misconduct of students and harassment of staff and motorists since Monday 17th June 2019, the University management, on behalf of Senate and pursuant to the provisions of the Moi University Act and Statutes, has decided to indefinitely close the two schools with immediate effect," read part of the memo.
It added: "Therefore, all the students at the two schools are directed to vacate the hostels and the University premises by 1:30 pm today Wednesday, 19th June 2019,” the memo read."
Consequently, the university moved forward to close the schools.
Following the closure, a section of the students has taken to social media to express their anger.
It still remains unknown as to when the closed institutions will resume.
