Speaking on Tuesday during county multi-sectoral security meeting at a Nakuru hotel, the county boss said the crackdown should go on until the illegal gang is wiped out.

"As a county we want to commend the security team for the work done. Ours is to collaborate with them in ensuring that we have a safer county where everyone can conduct legal business,"said Kinyanjui.

The sentiments were by Rift Valley regional coordinator Mwongo Chimwanga. He said the crackdown will continue.

He warned parents in Kivumbini, Flamingo and Bondeni to be careful with the activities their children engage in during this festive season.

"We have had challenges before with prosecution but at the moment I can assure you that all is in place and we will not relent in wiping out the illegal gangs,"said Chimwanga.

Police in Nakuru arrested three M-Pesa gangster suspects.

The trio was nabbed in Bondeni area on Thursday.

It is suspected that the three, a woman and two men, are part of an organized outlawed gang involved in M-Pesa theft syndicate in Nakuru town and its environs.

They were found in possession of several national Identification cards, mobile phones, money, and SIM cards.

The fraudsters make calls and pretend to be employees of service providers.

People who answer the calls are asked to share sensitive information such as ID and PIN numbers.

The fraudsters then SWAP the SIM cards, a process which allows them to transfer money, carry out mobile and internet banking services, make voice calls and use data and other services.

One of the suspects identified as Lucy Muthoni Wanjiku owns an M-pesa shop which police believe the suspects have been using to withdraw money defrauded from members of the public.
