Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has urged Migori people to elect Orange Democratic Movement party senatorial candidate Ochillo Ayacko in the upcoming by-election.
Speaking during a burial function in Rongo constituency, the Jubilee leader told residents to ignore the other candidates.
“I’ve heard there are other candidates vying in the by-election here, just ignore them and bring Ayacko to the Senate we are already booking a space for him,” Sakaja said.
The by-election will be the first major political activity since President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition chief Raila Odinga March 9 handshake.
The handshake has quelled political tensions in the country and Sakaja said he is happy that he can set foot in an opposition stronghold during an election period without worries.
The ODM party gave Ayacko a direct ticket which triggered rebellion within the party.
Migori Governor Okoth Obado has opposed the move and vowed to teach the party a lesson.
