Speaking on Saturday, Magwanga noted that a good number of area lawmakers Awiti in the general polls, but have all of a sudden turned against him in an ironic manner.

According to him, the group decided to side with the bad leadership in pursuit of personal gains and goodies offered by the county boss, but the supply seems to have suddenly been cut.

He noted that the governor appears to have stopped giving what he used to dish out, being well aware that he no longer needs them being on his last term, hence the sudden opposition.

"It's funny that all those who supported him are now against him. They were being funded and their vehicles fuelled but now they have turned back because the taps have run dry," he said on Radio Nam Lolwe on Saturday morning.

He stressed on the need for a strict audit in the county which he said had not been making any progress despite receiving funds like all the others, some of which are doing very well.

He called upon the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) to do a special probe on the county leadership, terming corruption one of the reasons behind the stagnated development.

"The county leadership from the top to the lower ranked executives should be investigated, including the misappropriation of a Sh200m fuel levy," he added.

Magwanga vied as an independent candidate after losing in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party primaries.
