A 23-year-old woman has her older brother to thank for her life, after he saved her from the Dusit D2 terror attack on Tuesday.
Grace Kamau, a shell BG Group employee which operates from the multi-purpose Riverside establishment was at work when the attack broke out at around 3 pm.
Kamau heard gunshots at the premise and decided to flee to safety. But the suspected terrorists thwarted her first plan which was to sprint out of the premises and shot at her and her colleagues who were trying to run down the stairs.
"As we were going down the stairs, they started shooting so we came back up and entered a store. When we were hiding we knew they were near because they even shot at the door,” she told the Nation.
At this point she contacted her father Charles Kamau and brother Leonard Kamau who is a member of the elite Recce Squad.
And though the older Mr Kamanu was blocked from accessing the building at Chiromo, Leonard made his way in and in association with his colleagues, saved the group.
Luckily, no one had been injured in the group which was hiding at one point of the building.
“My brother came there and entered the building. He is the one who told the cops where we were. They came and we got out. There were no injuries, but there was one guy who left us and went to the sixth floor balcony so we don’t know where he is," she added.
