Nyamira County Women representative Jerusha Momanyi has expressed her worry following the increased child negligence in the region.
The Jubilee lawmaker said parents neglecting their children should be arrested to face prosecution.
"It is worrying that some children are not going to school due to the parents' negligence. Parents more especially men boycotting their parental duties must face the law," she noted.
The vocal MP challenged women not to accept to give birth to several children which they can't take care of.
"Women should go for family planning so that they don't find themselves giving birth to several children. There is need for parents to give birth to a manage number of kids," she stated.
Ms Momanyi said more children in the county are malnourished because their parents's income is low.
"Growth of some children is hard because there is no food for them to eat. Men stop going to bed with women carelessly impregnating them with the low levels of income," said the MP.
She appealed to parents whose children are not going to school to take the kids to school.
"Each child has right to education since the government is offering free education," she added.
