Issuing an update on the progress of the project via his social media handle on Wednesday afternoon after visiting the site, Korane stated that the building will be have been completed by August thus bringing all key county departments under one roof.

"This morning, I toured the site and structures of the upcoming Garissa County Headquarters project to assess its progress. The building that is set to be completed by August will accommodate all key county departments," the county government said in a statement.

Upon completion of the project, Garissa residents will have the privilege of accessing key offices under the same building as opposed to the current situation where offices are situated kilometres apart.

Before construction works in the site began 2018, a section of local politicians had flagged the multimillion project Korane claiming that it was a scheme to siphon taxpayers money.

However, the project received a greenlight after several consultations with the residents through public participation. The project was proposed during former governor Nathif Jama's regime only to be actualized by Korane.
