Speaking on Tuesday in Nairobi, Yatani said that the National Government will channel funds to the County Government once it is done with the clearance of the pending bills at hand.

He said that out of the Sh.58.2 pending bills Sh.43.2 billion are still undergoing audit before the government can give the way forward on their clearance. Yatani said that only bills that merit will be cleared by the government after audit and investigations are completed.

"The eligible bills amount to Sh15.0 billion out of which Sh10.8 billion have been paid in the last three months. The National Government is committed to payment of the balance of Sh 4.2 billion by January 15, 2020," the CS said.

He also raised concern over the failure of the county government to pay the bills for both goods and services received from private sectors. He lamented that some of these bills pend for too long yet the governors are not responding as expected of them at the end of the day.

Yatani further said that the pending bills have had a negative impact on the economic progress of this nation because they have delayed service provision in different areas.
