Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has differed with his Kibera counterpart Ken Okoth on a proposal to legalise bhang.
Owino says that the proposal is ill and should not be entertained.
Speaking to journalists at his Parliament office on Monday, the MP vowed to lobby for rejection of the Bill should it be presented to the floor of the House.
He said that bhang is a dangerous drug that has ruined the lives of many young Kenyans.
“I don’t think the idea by Okoth to legalise bhang is good and we shall reject it once he brings it to Parliament,” he said.
Owino said that the fight against drug abuse will stall if the proposal by the Kibera MP sails through.
“As elected leaders, we need to think about positive things that will impact our people,” he said.
