Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi appeared to disparage the so-called Tanga Tanga and Kieleweke movements when he visited veteran politician Nginyo Kariuki Tuesday.
In a press conference, Mudavadi asked whether the two outfits which have been operating at cross-purposes had been registered and who were its officials.
"If you go to ask the registrar of parties, this thing called Tanga Tanga, is it registered? This thing called Kieleweke, is it registered? And if it is registered who are the officials?" Mudavadi asked.
The Tanga Tanga team is widely believed to be made up of staunch supporters of Deputy President William Ruto while the Kieleweke team is seen to be opposed to the prospect of a Ruto presidency.
The two outfits have been engaging in public fights fueling speculation that there could be divisions in the governing Jubilee Party.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has remained largely silent on the two factions within Jubilee.
Over the weekend, the Kieleweke team warned DP Ruto against acting as Uhuru's lawyer in the fake gold syndicate, saying that the president can defend himself.
Mudavadi is expected to contest the presidency in 2022 and has been making moves to endear himself to the vote-rich Kikuyu nation.
