Former Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe has announced the creation of a movement that is set to be used to ensure that Deputy President William Ruto does not ascend to the Presidency in 2022.
Speaking during an interview on KTN Sunday, Murathe noted that his position against Ruto's candidature, has massive backing both inside, and out of the Jubilee Party.
He noted that the movement dubbed 'Stop Ruto Movement' will be unveiled soon.
“Going forward, the Stop Ruto Movement which we are going to start, there is no stopping it. Let them assemble their troops, we will assemble ours and you will see them very soon.
"There is going to be formations and it will be up to Kenyans. Let the best side win," he said.
The announcement came just a few hours after Murathe announced his resignation from the ruling party, where he served as Vice Chair.
Addressing the media from his home, Murathe explained that he quit Jubilee because his position is party was no longer tenable.
"I now find that it is no longer tenable to stay on as the party vice-chairman, given that I will have to sit in the same National Executive Council with a man I am taking to court to block from running for presidency" Murathe said.
