Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi now says Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has no moral authority to speak against corruption in the country.
Addressing a media briefing at an Eldoret hotel on Monday, Sudi claimed Joho is involved in drug-trafficking hence should not speak on anything about ongoing fight against graft in the country.
The Mombasa governor while speaking during a church funds drive in Baringo county on Sunday said he will not allow being led by a 'thief president'.
But in a quick response, the Jubilee MP who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto termed Joho's utterances as reckless.
“Governor Joho is not fit to talk about corruption since many children in his county have gone astray because of the illegal drugs he sells to them and today he stands in front of the camera condemning others on corruption,” said Sudi.
"Joho you are supposed to be in jail because of the illegal drug business that you are doing. You should stop talking about Rift Valley politics,” he added.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) governor had on Saturday visited the retired President Daniel Moi accompanied by several legislators from the Coast region.
His utterances were seen as targeted against the DP who was recently ranked as the most corrupt individual by an Ipsos survey.
However, Sudi, a two-time MP, questioned why Ruto was being branded as corrupt at the time he is eyeing the country's top seat.
The Kapseret legislator wondered why Ruto was not branded a thief in the previous years until now when he wants to be the president.
"In 2007 when he supported Raila Odinga nobody said he was corrupt, same to 2013 and 2017. Why are they now calling him a thief, is it because of his 2022 ambitions?” Sudi posed.
