Kenyans will now have to drop Adminstration and Regular Police terminologies following reorganisation by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.

In the new changes, President Uhuru Kenyatta also focused on housing, uniforms and renaming of training centers.

Interestingly, 12 senior management positions were scrapped off. 

They include AP regional commander, Kenya Police regional commander, DCI regional commander, Kenya Police county commander, AP county commander, 

Others are DCI county commander, sub-county commanders from all the three arms on the National Police Service , OCPD, district AP commander and AP ward commander.

These positions will be replaced by integrated Police Geo Boundaries and placed under unified commands, namely regional police command, one county police command, and one sub-county police command.

Deputy Inspector General Kenya Police Service will deal with security and public safety will Deputy Inspector General in charge of AP will handle border control.

All police officers to undergo refresher training to help them better understand the new structure and functions.

Under the new scheme, both units will now be called General Police Service in a move aimed at changing public perception.

While junior officers will move out of camps since they will have house allowances, AP camps and chief’s camps where a majority of the APs are stationed will be gazetted as police stations. The regular police, DCI and APs housed in the same facilities will be under a single command.
