Speaking to KTN's Sophia Wanuna,  Haji said that anyone involved in the attempted murder would be prosecuted irrespective of whether they are a pauper or governor.

"It doesn't matter whether you are a governor or a pauper. If there is enough evidence, we will prosecute you," Haji said.

His remarks were in response to concerns over the pace of the investigations into Muktar's attempted assassination.

The family of the former CEC contends that he was shot because he planned to initiate a court process against Governor Korane's academic credentials and corruption in Garissa County.

Korane has denied any involvement in the attempted assassination and has accused those implicating him of political witch-hunting.
