Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka has rubbished claims in the media that he has dumped Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua's Maendeleo Chap Chap Party for Jubilee Party.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Monday, Musyoka said he has not ditched Mutua's party as reported on the media.
Musyoka said the fact that he attended Deputy President William Ruto's meeting in Machakos on Sunday does not mean that he has ditched his Maendeleo Chap Chap party.
"I want to make it clear that I have not abandoned MCC party for Jubilee as a section of the media is reporting," Musyoka said.
The MP further defended his move to endorse DP Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
He said politics is about competition, adding that his move to endorse DP Ruto does not mean that he does not support Governor Mutua's 2022 presidential ambition.
"They are both our leaders and they will compete and Kenyans will decide when time comes," he said.
On Sunday, Musyoka was among the five MPs from Ukambani region who declared support for Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
The MPs hailed DP Ruto stating that he is the right candidate to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
Political pundits argue that it is a blow to governor Mutua since the Mwala MP has been seen as his close confidant and ally.
There have been claims that Mutua is likely to endorse the Mwala legislator for Machakos gubernatorial seat in 2022 polls.
