The situation is relatively calm in Migori County as residents continue to wait for final results, following yesterdays’ senatorial by-election.
The by-election to replace the late Ben Oluoch Okello who died in June was conducted in a peaceful manner, with election equipment working properly in most polling stations.
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate George Ochillo Ayacko has been in the lead since results started streaming in last night, with a section of his supporters taking to the streets to celebrate.
Ayacko is currently leading in six out of seven constituencies that have so far submitted results, after yesterday’s by-election.
The county has a total of 8 constituencies.
Ayacko is closely followed by FPK’s Eddy Oketch.
Here are the results from the seven constituencies:
Uriri: Eddy Oketch – 14, 291, Ayacko – 8, 680
Suna West: Ayacko – 13, 336, Oketch – 8, 221
Awendo: Ayacko – 15, 987, Oketch – 6, 756
Kuria East: Ayacko – 4, 961, Oketch – 1, 586
Rongo : Ayacko – 12, 904, Oketch 5, 316
Suna East : Ayacko – 11, 960, Oketch – 8, 297
Kuria West: Ayacko – 5, 424, Oketch – 4, 930
In total, Ayacko is leading with 73, 252, while Oketch has so far garnered 48,797 votes.
Only Nyatike constituency is yet to submit the results.
