Garissa First Lady Fardosa Osman has called on locals to empower their women, saying it is the only way that the region can realise better economic growth.
Speaking on Tuesday at a women's function in Garissa, Ms Osman revealed that there was more than enough proof that availing a substantial amount of resources at the hands of women is the surest way of attaining a more successful economy for the NEP region.
"There is sufficient evidence showing that putting a notable amount of economic resources in the hands of women is the most effective way to hasten developments while sustainably reducing poverty," stated Fardosa.
In a wake up call to family men, the First Lady urged husbands to commence women empowerment from their individual households, noting that wives were more productive when not tied to family limitations.
"Women empowerment begins right in our individual families, workstations, and neighborhoods alike. It is by strengthening their ease of access to resources and opportunities that they can be able to share more widely in the benefits of improved economic growth, she added.
