Politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto in Nyamira will find it hard to campaign against Interior CS Fred Matiang'i, lawyer Steve Mogaka has said.
For the last couple of months, a section of politicians led by North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko have been popularising DP William Ruto's ambitions in the region.
The team, that also includes West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi and Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose, has been insisting that Dr Matiang'i has done little in the region.
But lawyer Mogaka, who narrowly lost to Kemosi in 2017, on Sunday said Matiang'i has established a block which believes in his executions thus dangerous for Tanga Tanga.
"The minister has proved to the country that he is a performer. That alone will be detrimental to his critics. They have to join him or sink," he said.
"After all, why should we oppose one of our own? If you can't beat him, just graciously join the camp. He has put this region on Kenyan map," he added.
Although Dr Matiang'i has never declared interest in Presidency, a number of politicians allied to his have been pushing for his candidature.
Last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta had a number of functions from his office given to Dr Matiang'i, an indication that he's a super minister.
Governors John Nyagarama and James Ongwae along with Senators Okong'o Mogeni and Sam Ongeri have been rallying for Matiang'i's candidature.
