"Love is blind, and lovers cannot see the pretty follies that themselves commit."
These words are said by Jessica in William Shakespeare's play 'The Merchant of Venice'.
Jessica who wants to elope with her lover, Lorenzo, is shy about Lorenzo seeing her disguised as a boy but recognizes that this won't affect his love for her.
As Jessica says, sometimes lovers have to do some pretty foolish things to keep their love flourishing. In fact, there is nothing under this sun that true lovers can't do if it is the only thing that guarantees their love's survival.
Citizen TV presenter Jacque Maribe could in one way or another be in such a position even as the world continues to say all manner of things about her current predicament.
Truth be told, Maribe could be a victim of circumstances or even a victim of true love gone wrong. Whatever the case it may turn out to be, only Maribe and her God know the truth. That truth is key to the course her current court case takes going forward.
With this truth, Maribe has got three tough options from among which she must decide on one. We list them.
1. Tell the truth.
Maribe has an option of telling the truth and 'nothing but the truth', of what she knows about the circumstances that have led her to be where she is.
As a respected public figure, Maribe can just decide that she will stand on the side of the truth, all other factors notwithstanding. And as they say, tell the truth and truth shall set you free.
2. Stand with her boyfriend.
Maribe also has an option of staying put and standing with her boyfriend to the end. She can continue insisting that what she recorded with the police earlier, is the truth and nothing else. This way, she leaves the prosecution to prove her right or wrong. However, if the prosecution proves her wrong, the consequences could be dire. Very dire indeed!
3. Wait on God.
Sometimes in a situation like the one Maribe is in, only God's intervention may work for you. This is because you could tell the truth and still end behind bars and vice versa. So, Maribe can as well decide to go down on her knees and just ask God to take over.
She must, however, ensure that she is honest in her request to God because as we all know, He is privy to everything we take to Him. And as we all know, you can only lie to God at your own risk!
