A local bank in Garissa Town has towed away sevens school buses after the county government refused to honour a deal formerly sealed during the purchases of the buses.
The seized buses were bought by the County Government of Garissa.
According to a school administrator Nur Aden of Dertu Secondary school whose bus was seized, the banks opted to come for them because the county government defaulted on remaining instalments.
“The bank said the county government of Garissa defaulted the remaining payments. And now they are saying they will no longer bank on the county but to just seize the buses," said Nur.
The school head further disclosed that students were suffering over the move since they used the buses to ferry them during opening and closing dates and also taking around to other events in their school calendar.
“Our students are really suffering. It was safer and also convenient for our local schools. We now lack ways on how to resolve the issue,” added the administrator.
Responding to the issue, Garissa Governor Ali Korane stated that he is not to blame for the buses were bought during the former governor Nathif Jama's tenure.
