Michael Oyamo, the estranged aide to Migori Governor Okoth Obado, used his closeness to Sharon Otieno to lure her into death, lead investigators have said.
As be awaits bail application, detectives believe Oyamo used his influence, lured Ms. Otieno, the pregnant lover of the governor before handing her to the deadly gang that executed and dumped her in Kodera forest.
In affidavits filed by Mr. Clement Mwangi, Mr. Oyamo is believed to have rushed to Uriri police station where he claimed that he had been kidnapped by the same gang he hired.
“The accused person alleged that following his kidnap, he found himself at Kisii Level 5 Hospital on September 4 where he was purportedly treated at 9am,” the affidavit reads.
With DNA samples proving that Obado was the father of Sharon's unborn baby, detectives also established that Mr. Oyamo was not a patient at the said hospital.
“Sharon was tortured, raped and brutally murdered. We have evidence linking the accused person and his accomplices to the commission of the heinous crime,” the affidavit says.
Phone call data also established that Mr. Oyamo was in constant call with one Caspal Obiero, another governor's aide, whose vehicle is said to have been used in abduction.
Also, with Obado's phone traced at the crime scene, investigators insist that he used Oyamo to lure the lady into death.
Preliminary investigations showed that Oyamo had previously purchased air tickets for Sharon and journalist Barack Oduor and the duo are said to have travelled to Nairobi to meet him.
Through the accounts of Oduor, Oyamo summoned that two to a Rongo hotel where they were to discuss the fate of Sharon's unborn baby with the governor before being bundled to a Toyota Fielder.
He is being treated as prime suspect of the murder and to some extent, he holds key to Governor Okoth Obado's fate as the two continue languishing in Industrial Area prison.
