There was drama on Saturday at Nyaboterere village in Kisii County after a 33-year-old man attacked his cousin's wife.
It is alleged that the man Raphael Marando stormed a house where a woman Verah Kemuma was alone and started beating her.
"Marando stormed my house and started stripping me naked. He beat me up claiming I persuaded his girlfriend to separate with him," said Kemuma.
Kemuma said were it not for neighbours who heard her screaming she could have died.
"I am grateful because my neighbours rescued me from the jaws of death. I call upon authorities to take legal action against the suspect," she pleaded.
Area assistant chief Augustine Mose condemned the incident saying the suspect separated from a woman he wanted to marry and blamed the victim for their separation.
"Marando is being traced to be arrested. He will face assault charges in court," he said.
The chief said the victim was treated at a local hospital before she was discharged.
"Kemuma sustained injured on her left leg and forehead following the attack but, she received treatment," said Mose.
He urged locals to report the suspect to police to ease his arrest.
