The former Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua's task force on Education's recommendations has yielded fruits following the counties exemplary performance in KCPE.

The task force formed on February 7, 2014, tabled its findings to the county government 45 days later for implementation.

The fruits of the team's recommendations are being felt already three years later.

Despite private schools recording better results in 2018 KCPE results, public schools have also continued to shine three years since the implementation of the task force report.

At Racetrack Primary in Flamingo Ward of Nakuru East Sub County, Juliet Akinyi and Michael Mangu managed to score 425 and 419 marks respectively putting the school on the national radar.

Addressing the press during a thanksgiving ceremony at the school, the academic giants attributed their performances to good cooperation with their teachers and parents.

“The best scores can be attributed to the good working relationship with our teachers,” the school's headteacher Caroline Njuguna said.

Njuguna said out of the 119 candidates who sat the 2018 KCPE examinations, 119 scored 400 marks and above, while only 5 scoring below 250 marks.

She said the school has a mean score of 315 marks that is an improvement from the 2017's 294.

“We thank God for the 2018 class which managed to improve from 294 to a mean score of 315," Njuguna said.

Flamingo MCA Eddy Kiragu who joined the school in celebrating the good performance stated that education was part of his development pillars.

Kiragu said he will continue to work with other stakeholders in improving the education standards in all schools within the ward.

“Education is one of my development pillars and we want to thank God that schools in our ward have performed well. I will continue working with other stakeholders in ensuring improved standards” Kiragu said.

Nakuru Baptist Academy's Niece Kemunto and Jay Muhanje scored 414 and 408 marks respectively.

The school's headteacher Lucy Njoroge said the 2018 class had recorded exemplary results attributing same to the hard working class and committed teachers.

“We are very happy, this is our year 2018,” Njoroge said.

However, Bahati North Academy in Bahati Sub County managed a mean score of 387.97 marks making it an academic giant in the sub-county.

The school's best candidate Timothy Kibiwot scored 412 marks while the last candidate managed 353 marks.

The school's headteacher Patrick Wesonga attributed the performance to collaboration with relevant stakeholders in ensuring quality education.

“We have had good working relations that have resulted to the good results,” Wesonga said.
