Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka has said that escalating cases of insecurity in Gusii region should not be condoned.

At Radio Maisha on Monday, Onyonka urged local leaders to raise up to the occasion and speak for the people.

"It is time as leaders in office and aspirants to team up and ensure the issue of insecurity is addressed for the purpose of ensure our people are safe," he said.

He said Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i should not be depended to end insecurity.

"Gusii region has experienced cattle rustling especially in Borabu, Nyamira County. We have not seen Matiang'i doing anything about it. He is not someone we can depend on to solve insecurity in the region," he noted. 

Onyonka urged leaders use public funds appropriately to fund various development projects.
