A letter from the DPP dated 8th October also prefers similar charges to Joseph Irungu, the fiancé to Ms. Maribe.

In the letter, he says: " I have independently reviewed the file and I am convinced that there exists prima facie case to warrant criminal prosecution for Jacque Maribe and Joseph Irungu."

This comes days after Ms. Maribe's father, Mwangi Maribe accused the police of falsely dragging his daughter to the controversial murder.

According to him, his daughter is 'guilty of love and not murder' adding that officers in charge were determined to bring her down.

Preliminary investigations by the police alludes that Mr. Irungu was driving Maribe's car when Monica Kimani was murdered.

Also, Maribe is accused of destroying evidence by burning clothes which Irungu was allegedly wearing at the time of murder.

DNA samples obtained from semen at the crime scene shows that Irungu also may have assaulted the deceased sexually.
